Hewlett's High Holidays Services

Chabad of Hewlett at SKA

Just a few weeks before Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and one of the Holiest days on the Jewish calendar, Chabad of Hewlett has announced that they will be holding big, "all doors open" High Holidays services for the entire community. As with all Chabad of Hewlett activities, these High Holidays services cater to anyone, regardless of background, affiliation, or level of observance. "According to Jewish tradition, on the Jewish New Year, the doors of heaven are open. G-d accepts prayers from everyone", said Rabbi Nochem Tenenboim, Director of Chabad of Hewlett. "The least we can do is open our doors to the entire community as well. Whatever you may call yourself: reform, conservative, orthodox, or unaffiliated we are all Jews and will make sure that you feel comfortable." Chabad's services are "user-friendly", making it enjoyable and meaningful for both the beginner and the advanced. Song, commentary and the use of English-Hebrew prayerbooks enable those of all levels to become active participants in the services. All efforts were made so services are in a comfortable and inspiring environment, where all feel "at home". There will be a full children's program with counselors in a large gym-like setting so you can be sure the kids will have a great holiday experience while playing and enjoying themselves.

"We don't believe in a "pay-for-prayer" concept ", said Rabbi Tenenboim, "so we don't sell tickets and nobody will be turned away due to lack of funds". Chabad of Hewlett's activities are supported exclusively by the local community, so a donation of $120 per seat is suggested to help Chabad of Hewlett continue to provide the community with excellent programs and activities."

In order to accommodate the big demand, services will be held in the large auditorium at the SKA school located at 291 Meadowview Ave in Hewlett Bay Park. Services will be followed by a delicious Lunch/Kiddush. We do offer services without English explanation as well.

We will have a full, traditional service WITHOUT English explanation that will take place in the large SKA classroom at 8AM. Same RSVP page just specify in the comments section.
