  1. A Valley Stream man praised a hospital worker at Long Island Jewish Valley Stream for saving his life. Hellene Ballesteros, 29, of Garden City South, an emergency room admitting representative, was able get Charles Davenport immediate treatment in December for appendicitis. (Patch)
  2. A former Rockville Centre physician who was accused of prescribing large amounts of opioids that led to the deaths of five patients had five counts of murder reduced to manslaughter by a judge on Thursday. (LI Herald)
  3. An 80-year-old woman has been arrested in a hit-and-run that injured a bicyclist in Jericho. Lena Saban, of Glen Head, struck a male bicyclist at the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and Cedar Swamp Road and left the scene. (Patch)
