Lidi Appears Headed To Green Acres Mall; Creating Battle With Aldi

VALLEY STREAM, NY — It could soon be a battle for customers as discount supermarket Lidl plans to open a location at the Green Acres Mall, according to Newsday.

Aldi, another low-priced grocery chain, is also at the mall.

The Hempstead Industrial Development Agency approved Lidl's sublease on Tuesday with the California-based mall owner, the report said.

The IDA holds title to the 2.1 million-square-foot mall, which includes the adjacent shopping center, Green Acres Commons.

The Lidl is expected to take over a 22,789-square-foot space and have 43 employees earning, on average, $26.62, Newsday said.
