ELMONT, NY — To coordinate in time for the Islanders' home opener next weekend, the MTA is adding another layer of convenience.

Beginning next week, the Long Island Rail Road will serve all passengers at the Elmont station after events.

Last season, fans could only use the train home if their return trip was on the Hempstead branch.

For now, the LIRR is only stopping in Elmont when UBS has events. However, the MTA plans to make Elmont a full-time stop in both directions by year's end, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced.
