Man Hit By Car In Critical Condition: Nassau Police

Police say the man was crossing Sunrise Highway in Freeport when he was hit.

FREEPORT, NY — A man is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Freeport Sunday night.

According to police, a 49-year-old man was crossing Sunrise Highway near South main Street when he was hit by a 2020 Subaru Forester being driven by a 66-year-old man. The pedestrian suffered multiple traumatic injuries, police say, and was rushed to a nearby hospital. He is in critical condition.

Police say the driver remained at the scene, and was not injured. Police performed a brake and safety check on his car.

Police did not name either of the people involved. The investigation is ongoing.
