Roosevelt’s Youngest Learners Celebrate Earth Day

Ulysses Byas Hosts Creative Activity with Pre-K Students and their Families

In a joyful celebration of Earth Day, Pre-K students at Ulysses Byas Elementary School in the Roosevelt School District teamed up with their families to dig into nature, creativity and environmental awareness. The event, supported and coordinated by the Roosevelt Family and Community Engagement team, brought smiles, soil, and seeds together for an unforgettable day of learning and connection.

“This celebration gave our students a chance to experience the beauty of the earth in a way that was both meaningful and fun,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Shawn Wightman. “We are so proud of the work our Family and Community Engagement team did to make this special day possible.”

Students got crafty by planting seeds in customized pots and expressed their creativity by drawing flowers like the ones they will soon see bloom. The event was designed to inspire a love for nature at an early age while strengthening the school’s partnership with families and the local community.
