Roosevelt High School proudly celebrated the achievements of its outstanding Varsity athletes who competed in the prestigious Nassau County Class AA Track and Field Championships held at Hewlett High School on Sunday, May 19.

“We are incredibly proud to have such an amazing group of talented and dedicated students representing the District and community in the track and field championships,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Shawn Wightman. “Their hard work and determination were on full display and we look forward to seeing them continue to develop and achieve great things.”

Several Roosevelt student-athletes represented the school with dedication, strength, and sportsmanship, showcasing their talents against top competitors from across the county.

Tajha Coggins, Amirh Glasgow and Esmia Thomas competed in the Girls 100-Meter Dash; Esmia Thomas and Mariah Ward raced in the Girls 200-Meter Dash, and Nyla Branche and Nadira Nesbitt were contenders in the Girls 400-Meter Dash. Competing in the Girls 100-Meter Hurdle Race was Aysha Cline; and Kaydence Finley and Joy Frank competed in the Girls 400-Meter Hurdle Race.

Two teams competed in the Girls 4x100-Meter Relay with Amirh Glasgow, Tajha Coggins, Esmia Thomas, Mariah Ward, Sophia Lobban and Takyia Wilder on one team and Nyla Branche, Nadira Nesbitt, Joy Frank, Kaydence Finley and Ayanna Glagow on the other.

Nyla Branche and Sophia Lobban competed in the Girls High Jump; Chloe Constant, Ayanna Glagow and Takyia Wilder competed in the Girls Long Jump, and Takyia Wilder competed in the Girls Triple Jump. Nefertai Cameron competed in both Girls Discus and Girls Shot Put.

Leroy Barrett, Andrey Glasgow and Dominic Solomon competed in the Boys 100-Meter Dash; Leroy Barrett and Kyree Robinson competed in the Boys 200-Meter Dash; Tyreik McClenic, Paul Solomon and Akeino Wallace competed in the Boys 400-Meter Dash, and Paul Solomon competed in the Boys 800-Meter Run.

Two teams competed in the Boys 4x100-Meter Relay with Leroy Barrett, Andrey Glasgow, Luciano Norman, Tyreik McClenic, Dominic Solomon and Ahron Mitchell on one team and Tyreik McClenic, Akeino Wallace, Chester Walker Jr., Paul Solomon, Kyree Robinson and Tyrese Williams on the other.

Jaden Holder and Marc Romany competed in the Boys High Jump, and Andrey Glasgow, Ahron Mitchell and Marc Romany competed in the Boys Long Jump.

Dan Claros and Bryan Querro Sanchez competed in both Boys Discus and Boys Shot Put, and Nigel Sealy also competed in Boys Shot Put.

This year’s turnout at the championship marks a significant milestone for the school’s track and field program and highlights the continued growth of Roosevelt's athletic excellence.
