SIBSPlace Hosts Surprise 90th Birthday Party for Long Time Volunteer
Employees, students, family and friends join to celebrate special milestone

Vic Horowitz has been a volunteer for SIBSPlace since 2004, coming in every week to dedicate his time to serve the organization and its children. However, Vic is more than a volunteer, he is considered a family amongst SIBSPlace faculty and kids. In his almost 20 years of service, Vic has befriended hundreds of children in the program, making long lasting relationships.
Everyone at SIBSPlace is forever grateful for the work Vic has done over the years and wanted to recognize him for his dedication. On Tuesday, January 17, SIBSPlace hosted a surprise party for Vic as they celebrated his 90th birthday. Vic was joined by his wife Judie, SIBSPlace employees, volunteers, children, former employees and friends. Vic’s family members were also present on zoom to celebrate the special occasion.
“Years ago when we had a health issue with a family member, we realized the best place to be is at SIBSPlace. After seeing all of the good work they have done for children and families in the community, I felt the need to give back. Over the years it has been a pleasure to make friends with so many wonderful children. It is rewarding to see the kids come into this program and develop into remarkable individuals. One thing I have learned is that SIBSPlace is more than a program, it is a family. It brings me joy to see children graduate from the program and then come back to volunteer their time,” said Horowitz.

SIBSPlace also created a special slideshow presentation where they thanked Vic for his efforts over the years. They also presented him with a birthday cake and gifts from children in the program.
Vic is still a volunteer to this day. At 90 years old, Vic still volunteers every Tuesday at SIBSPlace and even brings in his trained therapy dog, Daisy, a Labradoodle, to spend time with SIBS children.
