The note was determined to be a hoax.

Glen Cove Police say the note was found by a teacher in a classroom at Deasy Elementary School, located at 2 Dosoris Lane. The note stated that a bomb was going to be brought into the school, police say.
Finley Middle School, located at 1 Forest Ave., was also evacuated. The students at each school were safely evacuated to Glen Cove High School.

Glen Cove Police quickly completed the investigation and identified the writer of the note.
The note, which was determined to be a hoax, was written by a young child who does not attend school in the district, according to the district message. The child left the note while in a building with an outside organization on Monday night, the district says.

“It turns out that the note was written by a 9 year old juvenile who did not intend to cause any harm to the school," Det. Lt. John Nagle said. "The juvenile’s family cooperated fully with the investigation and the case is closed.”
Members of the school district received the below message from the district:
This morning a threatening note was found in a room between Deasy and the Middle School. Students were safely evacuated to the High School as a precautionary measure. The Glen Cove Police Department has confirmed that the note was a hoax and written by a young child not enrolled in the district, who was in the building with an outside organization last night.
We are in the process of returning all students to their buildings.
We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
