Ben's Kosher Deli Celebrates 50 Years, With Renovated Greenvale Store

The iconic deli held a celebration this week to celebrate turning half a century and as a grand opening of expanded Wheatley Plaza location.

GREENVALE, NY — Ben's Kosher Deli has been an iconic name in Nassau County since the first Ben's opened in 1972 in Baldwin. On Monday the business, now with six stores in New York and Florida, held a 50th birthday party at the Greenvale location.

The Greenvale deli, located at 140 Wheatley Plaza, has been recently expanded and renovated. The Greenvale location is 40 years old, and at Monday's party owner and founder Ronnie Dragoon cut a ceremonial ribbon and reflected on his years in business.

Dragoon also had a birthday this month, turning 74. Dragoon founded Ben's with his father, the eponymous Ben.

As part of Ben's birthday month, on Oct. 25, all in-dining room diners will receive 50 percent off the bill.
