Police seized drugs and cash from a Glen Head home on Monday after authorities intercepted a mail package containing narcotics that was headed to that location, police say.

The Glen Cove Police Department, along with the U.S. Postal Inspectors, intercepted a package destined for delivery at Rini Road in Glen Head, police said. A search warrant was issued for that location after authorities determined the package contained narcotics.

A resident of the home, 28-year-old Zachary Tayne, was arrested after U.S. Postal Inspectors and Nassau County Police K9 Unit seized more than 11 pounds of marijuana, 15 grams of cocaine and $4,800 in cash.

Tayne was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and first-degree criminal possession of marijuana. He will be arraigned in First District Court Tuesday.

"This was a joint investigation between the Glen Cove Police Department and the United States Postal Inspectors Office," Det. Lt. John Nagle said. "The seizure of the drugs will assure that they will not be distributed to the surrounding community."
