RUSSELL GARDENS, NY — A homeless man was arrested after Nassau police said he broke into a Russell Gardens home early Tuesday.
A 72-year-old man was sleeping in his home on Wensley Drive when his alarm system woke him up around 4:30 a.m., police said. The man got up and saw Curtis Slyke, 29, on the second floor outside of his bedroom, police said. Slyke stole an item from the home and ran off, police said.
Officers found Slyke walking near the intersection of Wensley Drive and Linford Road and arrested him without further incident, police said. Police said Slyke was also responsible for attempted burglaries at a home on Linford Road in Great Neck and a second home on Wensley Drive that same morning.
