Cyndi Lauper’s Son Arrested After Harlem Shooting: NYPD

The son of Grammy winning musician Cyndi Lauper was found with a stolen gun near a shooting scene Wednesday night, authorities said.

HARLEM, NY - The son of Grammy winning musician Cyndi Lauper was found with a stolen gun near a shooting scene Wednesday night, authorities said.

Declyn “Dex” Lauper, 26, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance after officers found him with a loaded glock near the shooting at 132 West 112th St., police said.

The victim, a 24-year-old man, is in stable condition at Mount Sinai Morningside after the shooting, which took place about 7:15 p.m., ABC7 reported.

The victim was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon, the outlet added.

Lauper was found inside a building at 123 West 112th St. with blood on his sneakers, police told Patch. He reportedly told officers, “I’m not going back there. They just tried to stick us up and shoot us out there.”

“I don't know what’s in the bag,” he added, in reference to the bag in which officers found the stolen gun. “I’m bringing my boy's bag home for him.”

Lauper, an Upper West Side resident, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in 2022 after he was arrested in a stolen Mercedes, Patch previously reported.
