East Harlem Apartment Fire Injures 3 People: FDNY

EAST HARLEM, NY — A blaze in a Harlem building injured three people on Wednesday, as smoke from Canadian wildfires blanketed the city, an FDNY spokesperson told Patch.

Flames broke out just after noon on the fifth floor of an 11-story building at 1660 Madison Ave., between East 110th and 111th streets, FDNY said.

Three people suffered minor injuries and were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, FDNY said.

A total of 80 firefighters battle the flames, and were able to get it under control by 1 p.m., FDNY said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
