Girl, 8, Assaulted At Harlem After School Program; 1 Arrested: Cops

HARLEM, NY - A part-time Harlem public school employee was charged with sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl over several months at an after school program, authorities said.

Miles McNeal, 25, of Yonkers, was charged Thursday morning with use of a child in a sexual performance, sex abuse, promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child and related charges, police said.

It was not immediately clear which school McNeal was employed with, though the incident reportedly occurred at a building on West 112th Street between Sept. 8, 2022 and Aug. 18, 2023, according to amNewYork. McNeal is alleged to have taken explicit photos of the victim and showed her lewd photos of other children, the outlet added.

McNeal was arraigned Friday in Manhattan Criminal Court and was ordered held on $75,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond. He is still detained at Rikers Island ahead of his Feb. 7 court date.

Authorities are investigating the allegations and have “specially trained professionals who can speak with the children and their families in a child-friendly setting.”
