Teen Charged With Murder After Harlem Shooting: Police

A Harlem 18-year-old was arrested over the weekend, four months after a deadly shooting took place on 125th Street, police said.

HARLEM, NY — An 18-year-old from Harlem was charged with murder over the weekend after being accused of shooting and killing a person in the neighborhood earlier this year, police said.

Christian Marte, who lives near West 148th Street, was charged with murder, assault, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal use of a firearm, in connection a shooting that happened on Feb. 11, 2023, police said.

That night, officers found Alfred Johnson, 42, inside of 2 W. 125th St. with gunshot wounds to his torso and neck, police said. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Johnson was also a resident of a different address on West 148th Street, police said.
