Harrison EMS Seeks Your Support

Each year, you, the members of the community have shown your appreciation by supporting the extraordinary effort of Harrison Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

As you may or may not be aware, the Harrison EMS is a non-for-profit organization that is contracted to the Town/Village of Harrison. We provide an essential service to the community and those that work and pass through the community. The town provides an annual stipend toward our operating expenses. The primary source of income is through third party billing or Fees for Service, which covers the remainder of our operating expenses. Your generous financial support allows us the means to purchase equipment, medical supplies and materials, training for staff and assist in vehicle maintenance for six vehicles that need to be replaced every four or five years. None of your donations go toward salaries or operations expenses. Rising insurance costs, decreases in reimbursements from insurance companies and funding as well as a decrease from the town has stressed the system and the ability to keep providing the service you have grown to expect. We turn to you, the residents of this community, to support us and continue to show your financial support so we can continue to serve you with the best pre-hospital care in Westchester.

Over the past three years, we have only had 24.6 percent of the community respond to our appeal, and only six percent of the local businesses and corporations solicited responded to our appeal. We hope to do better this year since our call volume and expenses continue to grow.

Based on our 2009 call volume, the expenses for one fully equipped and staffed ambulance is more than $225 per hour, with two ambulances to cover more than 3,000 calls for service you can see how important your financial support is. Send your deductible donation in now, why wait?
