From the Harrison Central School District
Last Monday, students at Harrison High School honored those lost on September 11, 2001, by dressing in patriotic colors.
The students were asked to wear blue jeans and a white tee-shirt and an article of clothing that contained the color red. The idea came from the GO Executive Government who wanted students to learn about and understand 9/11.

Executive President Robby Tiburzi coordinated the commemoration with help from Emily Chestler, Marwan Bishtawi and the other officers of the student government. Alert Now messages were sent to the entire student body and Facebook messages were posted to remember and honor their country as a community. An astounding 95 percent of the students, faculty, staff and administration participated.
“I couldn’t have been more proud of the students of Harrison,” said Tara Morrissey, advisor of the GO Student Government. “The way in which they came together to honor their country and the victims of 9/11 was profound. They have come to the realization that they are an important part of their community, and the larger communities around them.”

Student made pledges of ways in which they will remember 9/11 and are planning a memorial for the High School.
As the students said, they feel that, "It has often been said that in times of crisis it is best to stand together. It is for the world to know that despite the forces that wish to hinder us, Americans will always support each other, if anything, for the love of their country."
