Preston Students Make a Difference With Wellness Week

S.J. Preston Elementary School in West Harrison sponsored Wellness Day earlier this month.

The students, from kindergardeners to fifth graders, attended workshops on subjects such as nutrition, dental health, yoga, bicycle safety, personal hygiene, martial arts and smoking prevention.

Local organizations such as the Westchester Departmentof Health, Harrison Youth Council, Personal Trainers, local dentist Dr. Jennifer Sylvia, and teachers volunteered their expertise to help educate the students.

Students in grades two through five participated in their annual Jump Rope for Heart program. These students raised an astounding $4,800 for the AmericanHeart Association.
