Harrison Comeback Falls Short Against Pearl River

Harrison clawed back from an early 5 - 0 deficit, but lost to Pearl River 5 - 4 Tuesday afternoon.

Pearl River jumped out to a five-run lead and held on for a 5-4 victory at Harrison Tuesday.

Senior catcher Jamie DeGennaro went 3-for-3 with a double and drove in two runs for the Pirates, who remained undefeated at 5-0 and gave Harrison (6-1) its first loss of the season.

Senior pitcher Katie O'Flynn struck out eight and gave up four runs, three earned, on eight hits in seven innings. She also singled and drove in two runs. Senior Amanda Schule tripled, singled and drove in a run and junior Kristyn Neroda singled twice and scored a run for Pearl River.

Jenna Webb went 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBI for Harrison. The Huskies moved the tying run to second base in the sixth inning and had a runner thrown out at the plate in the fifth, never tying the game after an early deficit.

Two great defensive plays by Pearl River in the bottom of the seventh inning preserved the lead, as Harrison's Ali Neu led off the inning with a drive down the right field line only to be put away by a great over the shoulder catch. O'Flynn made a nice defensive play of her own to end the game.
