St. Gregory's Celebrates 100 Years in Harrison
Archbishop Timothy Dolan leads the parish for an honorary mass.
One-hundred years ago the founders of Harrison's St. Gregory the Great Parish took a leap of faith, dedicating their time to creating a place of worship without knowing where it would be or who would lead it.
On Saturday, hundreds of parishoners joined together to celebrate the centennial of that leap—and to thank God for 100 years of existance here in Harrison.
"One hundred years ago they made an act of faith, and they asked God for guidance and grace—they asked Him to be a good shepard," said Archbishop of New York Timothy Dolan, who led the celebratory Mass. "One-hundred years later we come back and say, 'thank you God, you've kept your promises',"

The archbishop blessed the church's centennial wall before leading the service. Saturday's Mass marks the end of months of events in honor of the centennial.
