Driver Dies Of Injuries Suffered In Greenlawn Crash
The man whose car overturned after he hit a tree has died of his injuries, police say.
GREENLAWN, NY — The man who was critically injured when he crashed into a tree in Greenlawn on Sunday night has died of his injuries, Suffolk police stated in an update on Monday.
Joseph Scappatore, 32, of Greenlawn, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado northwest on Greenlawn Road when he left the roadway near Ducharme Lane and struck a tree around 9:35 p.m., police said. The Chevrolet overturned following the crash, police said.
Greenlawn Rescue brought Scappatore to a local hospital, where he had been listed in critical condition, police said. The car was impounded for a safety check.
