Teens Charged In Huntington Station Party Stabbing That Killed Man: Police
Police said the stabbing happened during a party on Lowndes Avenue in October 2024, killing one man and injuring another.
HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — Suffolk County police said two people have been arrested in connection with a stabbing that killed a 29-year-old man and injured another during a party in Huntington Station last fall.
Police said Homicide Squad detectives charged Gerson Mendoza-Rodriguez, 19, of Hicksville, and a 17-year-old Huntington Station male, whose name is being withheld because of his age, with manslaughter in the first degree and gang assault in the first degree.
The charges stem from a stabbing that occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, at 58 1/2 Lowndes Ave., police said.

According to police, Second Precinct officers responded to the location after a 911 caller reported a stabbing during a party. When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from stab wounds.
Police said Justin Alfaro-Avila, 29, of Huntington Station, was transported to Huntington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A 39-year-old man was treated at a local hospital and later released, police said.

Both suspects were being held overnight at the Third Precinct, police said. Mendoza-Rodriguez is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip, while the 17-year-old — who was 15 at the time of the incident — will be arraigned in the Youth Part of First District Court, police said.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to police.
