Elderly Man Killed In Copiague Hit-And-Run: Police

Driver fled scene after crash, investigators say

COPIAGUE, NY — A 69-year-old man from Massapequa Park was killed in a hit-and-run crash Wednesday night in Copiague, Suffolk County police said.

Louis Lasusa was walking north across Montauk Highway when he was struck by a gray sedan in front of 1051 Montauk Highway around 8:44 p.m. The driver did not stop and continued driving, police said.

Lasusa was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6553 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the P3 Tips mobile app or at www.P3Tips.com.

Information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000, police said.
