ELWOOD, NY — Elwood-John H. Glenn High School senior Aidan Lee has reached a major milestone in his wrestling career, earning his 100th career victory.

Lee said the achievement reflects years of growth, dedication, and perseverance — especially after getting a relatively late start in the sport.

“This was a huge accomplishment for me,” Lee said. “Looking back on my freshman year, I never thought that I would take my career this far. Not just with the number of wins, but all the accolades in general.”

Lee began wrestling in eighth grade but said he did not fully commit to the sport until after his freshman year.

“Compared to a lot of other wrestlers at this level, I started pretty late,” he said. “I wrestled in eighth grade, but didn’t really take it that seriously until after my freshman year.”

His breakout season came in 2025, when Lee recorded 35 wins and qualified for the state championships for the first time — a turning point he credits with boosting his confidence heading into his senior year.

“That’s the point where I knew I was at this level, and I’m ready to win it all this year,” Lee said.

Lee plans to make a run at a state title in February before continuing his wrestling career at New York University, where he recently committed and plans to major in finance.

“I just committed a couple of weeks ago,” Lee said. “I initially wasn’t even planning on wrestling in college, but I met the coach at NYU, and we hit it off. I visited a practice back in September, met all my teammates, and loved it there. It’s a great school for my major.”

John Glenn wrestling coach TJ Brocking praised Lee not only for his athletic success, but for his character and academic achievement.

“I always tell the guys that we use wrestling to make you a better human being, and he used wrestling to get into one of the best business schools in the country,” Brocking said. “I think the networking out of NYU in general, and being a member of the wrestling team, is really going to help him throughout the rest of his life.”

Brocking added that Lee exemplifies what it means to be a student-athlete.

“He is an example of what every student athlete on a team should be: smart, hardworking, goal-oriented, successful, mentally tough,” he said. “He is the total package.”
