Teen Injured After Crashing Into Utility Poles In Elwood: Police
The crash happened early New Year's Day on Elwood Road near Hammond Road, police say.
ELWOOD, NY — An 18-year-old man was injured after his vehicle struck two utility poles during an early-morning crash in Elwood, Suffolk County police said.
According to Suffolk County Police Second Precinct officers, the crash happened at about 5:02 a.m. on January 1 on Elwood Road near Hammond Road.
Police said the teen was driving a 2021 Toyota southbound on Elwood Road when the vehicle crossed the double yellow line and struck a utility pole. The car then continued forward and hit a second utility pole before coming to a stop.

The driver was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. No other injuries were reported.
