Parents want their child to love dance class from the very first day. So, why isn’t there a dance class for ages 3-6 that keeps beginners interested and wanting to come back to class week after week? Well…now there is!!!

HUNTINGTON BALLET ACADEMY has the answer! This exclusive curriculum is being licensed by dance studios across the USA to inspire young dancers, and Huntington Ballet Academy is proud to be the first studio on Long Island to offer the Around The World Fairytale Princess™ Ballet Curriculum.

“The multi-cultural aspect of our curriculum is just amazing. Families in our community are from all over the world and children love to learn about their heritage and share that with their friends. Plus, students learn about other traditions from around the world” says Studio Director, Joan Albright.

At each class, dancers experience joyful ballet learning steps and music inspired by each country, receive weekly home coloring sheets with story excerpts and monthly certificates of completion

“The monthly four-part princess fairytale story is shared at circle time each class before the dancing portion of the class begins. There’s a mild cliffhanger at the end of each story part, and each week our princess dancers can’t wait to hear the next part of the story when they get to class”.

The thread of our stories and exploring different cultures is so magnetic - students are looking forward to the next country we explore! Plus, who doesn't want to be a princess? BONUS: there is a go-home coloring sheet each week for our princess dancers that includes the weekly story for parents to read at home. This solves the “what did my child do at class this week” question and helps parents continue the magic at home. Each monthly lesson plan leads up to The Queens Royal Ball performance.

The weekly classes include traditional pre-ballet activities (plie, tendu, rises, twirls, pique, passe, sways, and other activities that all ballet classes cover) plus movement games and creative dance.

Featured countries over the year are Germany, India, Native American, Russia, Japan, France, Ireland, South Pacific Islands, Africa and South America. Each story has a message, a moral to our story, about a positive life lesson learned by our princess.

The music selections at class are by composers from each country or inspired by the traditional music that is representative of our monthly featured country.

Dancers also learn key words in the language of our selected country. As an example, in our Ancient India story, we dance to music by composers from India, and some key words we learn are sultan, namaste, odissi, bamboo flutes, sitar, sari, dhoti and more. These words are used in the story and repeated in our traveling movement/story movement section of the classes, where dancers "act out" the featured story with prompted ballet moves to reinforce learning.

“Our goal is for students to learn to enjoy ballet and want to dance for a lifetime! Parents are searching for their children to find their niche, something they want to pursue and learn how to give effort to succeed.” We hope our dancers will continue dancing for a lifetime” said Ms. Albright
