SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A 50-year-old Huntington father was sentenced to 48 years in prison after he was found guilty of sexually abusing his two minor daughters in 2012, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney announced.

The man was convicted of first-degree sexual conduct against a child and other related charges, the DA said. He also faces 20 years of post-release supervision.

"The serious sentence sends a clear message to abusers that we will not tolerate child abuse in Suffolk County," Tierney said in a news release. "While their father’s heinous actions can never be undone, I applaud these two young women for coming forward to report their father and testify before the jury. Their bravery will keep others from being abused."

In February 2012, the father began sexually abusing his oldest daughter, who was 10 years old at the time, prosecutors said. A short time later, the man began to also abuse his younger daughter sexually, who was 8 years old at the time, authorities said.

The father's behavior escalated to abusing both children simultaneously and abusing one child in front of the other, investigators said.

The abuse occurred while the girls' mother was at work, and the man would often use the promise of gifts to lure the children into the abuse again, officials said. The abuse ended around September 2012
when the victim’s mother was home more often, the DA said.

The victims initially disclosed the abuse to members of their church, and later as young adults, they reported it to law enforcement, officials said.

The father was arrested on Aug. 30, 2023, and held on $250K cash, $500K bond, or $2.5 million partially-secured bond.

On May 14, the man was convicted of two counts of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child and two counts of first-degree incest, the DA said.

The man was sentenced on Tuesday. He was represented by Andrew Karpf.
