Huntington Police Blotter: 2 Arrested In Best Buy Price Switch Theft

The two stole a more expensive computer, police say. ALSO: Rental car stolen off driveway overnight, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Huntington area from Sept. 30 through Oct. 6.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Oct. 3: Janae Emmanuel, 19, of Wyandanch, worked with DeAndre Smith to pull off a price switch theft at Best Buy in Huntington on Sept. 8, police said. The two took stickers off of a cheaper computer, placed them on a more expensive computer, and paid the cheaper price for the item, police said. Emmanuel was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny: property value exceeds $3,000.
  • Oct. 1: DeAndre Smith, 21, of Wyandanch, worked with Janae Emmanuel to pull off a price switch theft at Best Buy in Huntington on Sept. 8, police said. The two took stickers off of a cheaper computer, placed them on a more expensive computer, and paid the cheaper price for the item, police said. Smith was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny: property value exceeds $3,000.

Incidents

  • Oct. 5: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Leigh Street in Huntington at 10:01 a.m. Someone stole a rental 2024 Dodge SUV from a driveway sometime overnight, police said.
  • Oct. 1: Burglary (second-degree) was reported on Maple Place in Huntington at 3:22 p.m. Someone stole a package from outside a home, police said.
  • Sept. 30: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Walt Whitman Road in Huntington Station at 5:14 p.m. Someone was at a jewelry counter looking at two pieces of jewelry, police said. The person then took both pieces of jewelry and left without paying, police said.
