Huntington Police Blotter: Man Tries To Cash Forged Check

ALSO: Receipt scam reported at store; and person opens two credit cards in someone else's name, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Huntington area from May 26 through June 1.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • May 27: Jeremy Montero-Martinez, 20, of Ozone Park, tried to cash a forged check at a TD Bank on Larkfield Road in East Northport on May 27, police said. He was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny: value of property more than $3,000 and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, police said.

Incidents

  • May 27: Identity theft (second-degree) was reported on Station Way in Huntington Station at 5:47 p.m. A person opened two credit cards at local stores in someone else's name, police said.
  • May 27: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on Jericho Turnpike in South Huntington at 2:38 p.m. Someone had a store print out a receipt for an item they did not purchase and then returned it to the store to get a cash return, police said.
