As a matter of safety, Huntington schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 28, and all afterschool and evening activities postponed or canceled. While our schools are cleared and ready, the surrounding side roads are unfortunately not in a condition that we deem safe enough for bus or auto travel.
Please note that as a result of Wednesday exam cancellations at the high school, another revised exam schedule will be posted on the district website and Facebook page. This schedule will require all classes at Huntington High School to be canceled on Friday to accommodate the additional exam administrations. Again, regular school will not be in session at Huntington High School only on Friday.

An additional communication from the high school administration to parents and students will follow tomorrow, but, again, please review the revised exam schedule that will be posted shortly.
Please be safe tomorrow and we look forward to seeing all students back in their school buildings on Thursday.
Important: The latest high school exam schedule for the week is attached here.
From the South Huntington School District website:
At this point our schools and parking lots are in great shape but the same can simply not be said for many of the roads in our district. We have been out and about all day and many of the side streets and numerous hills are simply unnavigable even by our 4 wheel drive vehicles, much less buses, vans, and typical cars.
As a result, we are going to have to cancel school tomorrow (Wednesday 1/28). I really hate to do this but we simply cannot take a chance with your children and the members of our learning community. The Regents Exams will be rescheduled for a date later in the week (expect a call if you are taking an exam) and the Board of Education meeting will go on as scheduled. Again, we were really hoping to salvage the day but the roads are simply not conducive to safe bus travel.
