KyuRamen Opens In Huntington: 'Very Bright And Fun Place To Eat'
The restaurant aims to offer good food and "unique decor," the owners say. "It's going to be a visual experience and an eating experience."
HUNTINGTON, NY — KyuRamen, a restaurant specializing in ramen, has opened in Huntington. The new eatery is at 296 Main Street. A private soft opening was held Tuesday with the public grand opening scheduled for Wednesday.
The restaurant offers more than 10 ramen dishes, as well as rice burgers, appetizers, desserts and more. The ramen options feature chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, vegetable and more.
Co-owners Steven Wong and Howard Wu said they looked at a lot of different locations before settling on making Huntington the second Long Island locale to get a KyuRamen — Garden City was the first.

"The reason we select Huntington as our first one is because of the location and also, the culture here," Wu told Patch. "We like the people here. We think this is great."
Wong said he hopes the town is "very friendly toward new businesses."

Gary Lin, the founder of KyuRamen, decided to study ramen after the enjoyment he got from eating it. Lin repeatedly visited Japan to taste different flavored ramen noodles, according to the KyuRamen website. He opened his own shop to make Japanese ramen a more affordable daily cuisine. KyuRamen strives to let the general working class and student population enjoy affordable ramen in a "stress-free environment."
Lin's demonstration "really made a good impression" on Wong, who said the Huntington restaurant is his first time owning a KyuRamen.
"I really believe in his product," Wong said. "I like the way he’s structuring the business and how to manage it. Everything really appeals to me."

Wu said he and Wong love ramen and hope to share their passion for it with the local population. They also hope to share a nice atmosphere fleshed out with "unique" decor.
"When people come into the restaurant, it’s not just about the food but it’s something else they are looking for, as well," Wu said. "That is why we bring something else. Not just the food, but the atmosphere. People come here to enjoy the ramen and enjoy the design inside the restaurant. We hope people will have a fun time and we will offer the best; not just the food, but also the service."
The owners say KyuRamen of Huntington is "family-oriented with unique decor with great food in a great town," exciting for everyone — adults and younger people alike.
"When you see the booths and you see the layouts, it’s very bright and a fun place to eat besides having good food. It’s unique decor that is going to get a lot of Instagram hits. When you see the seating design and the positive fun vibe in the place, it’s going to be an experience not just eating food, but it’s going to be a visual experience and an eating experience."
