Lumberyard Owner Says No Talks Going On With MTA

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority may want to expand its stake in Huntington Station but an owner of a key piece of property says he's not negotiating. 

Christopher Van Tuyl, one of the co-owners of Nassau Suffolk Lumber Supply, said that the MTA had indicated interest in his site at 200 Broadway but "There is no negotiation; there was a phone call. They've probably called a dozen people. But I wouldn't sell; it's my most central location and they would have to pay me a ridiculous amount of money," making a sale unlikely.

The MTA said it was unable to provide information about the property when asked.

The agency has been looking for ways to expand and add a railyard along the Port Jefferson line.
