Man Wanted In iPhone X Scam In Huntington Station

A sushi restaurant employee paid the man $2,000 for a box that supposedly contained four iPhone X's, police say.

Police are looking to identify the man who scammed a woman out of $2,000 at a Huntington Station sushi restaurant in November.

According to authorities, the man entered Miss Sakura, located at 340 W. Jericho Turnpike, and offered to sell four iPhone X’s to an employee for $2,000 on Thursday, Nov. 16 at approximately 3 p.m.

The employee paid the man and was given a box that was supposed to contain the phone. However, no phones were in the box, police say.

The man is wanted for grand larceny. Police described him as a Hispanic man in his early 30s with a thin build.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
