Northern State Parkway Closures Looming For 2 LI Townships

The inter-county closures are set to begin Monday because of bridge maintenance and drainage projects.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Overnight closures are coming to the Northern State Parkway in the townships of Huntington and Oyster Bay, the New York State Department of Transportation announced Friday.

Bridge maintenance and drainage projects are set to begin Monday and last through Friday, weather permitting.

  • Eastbound traffic will be closed between Exit 36B (State Route 135/Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway) in the Town of Oyster Bay and Exit 42 (State Route 231/Deer Park Avenue) in the Town of Huntington from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m.
  • Westbound traffic will be closed between Exit 37A (Interstate 495/Long Island Expressway) and State Route 135 in the Town of Oyster Bay from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m.

Traffic will be detoured to the Long Island Expressway (Interstate 495) during these closures.

Motorists were urged by the department to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of one's driver's license.
