GREENLAWN, NY — Students, staff, and families gathered for the 19th Annual All-Star Awards at Oldfield Middle School on May 29, the Harborfields School District announced.

A group of students were honored based on teacher nominations, and this year’s recipients "truly exemplified what it means to be an All-Star," according to the district.

These award recipients have typically made small strides, achieved personal goals or overcome hardships to meet with their own level of success from an academic, social, emotional or behavioral standpoint.

Earning an all-star award "reinforces the importance of character, which is crucial to all students, but especially those in middle school," the district wrote.

OMS guidance counselors took turns reading the teacher submissions. Throughout the award presentation, the same qualities stood out again and again: hard work, perseverance, and a positive attitude every step of the way.
