Overnight Closures Coming To LI Expressway In Town Of Huntington

Varied stretches of the expressway will be closed over the course of next week. Here's what motorists should know.

TOWN OF HUNTINGTON, NY — Overnight closures are coming to the Long Island Expressway in the Town of Huntington, the New York State Department of Transportation announced.

The interstate will be closed to traffic between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. on the following days and locations in the Town of Huntington for a bridge cleaning project:

  • Monday and Tuesday: Eastbound at Exit 49 (State Route 110)
  • Wednesday and Thursday: Eastbound between Exit 49 and Exit 50 (Bagatelle Road)
  • Friday, May 10: Eastbound between Exit 50 and Exit 51 (State Route 231)

Traffic will be detoured onto the service road during the closures. All closures are weather dependent.

Motorists were urged by the department to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones.

Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of one's driver's license.
