Propane Tank Causes House Fire In Huntington Station

The fire broke out on Sunday evening, fire officials say.

Firefighters battled a house fire caused by a propane tank on Sunday evening in Huntington Station, according to fire officials.

The Huntington Manor Fire Department responded to a house fire on Queens Street at 5:40 p.m. Officials say a fuel line on a propane gas barbecue ruptured and set the back of the house and deck on fire.

About 40 firefighters responded to the scene and were able to get the blaze under control in about 20 minutes. The fire appears accidental, officials say.

The Huntington Manor, Huntington and Greenlawn fire departments were all at the scene while the Melville Fire Department stood by with an engine at Huntington Manor headquarters. The Huntington Community First Aid Squad also responded to the scene with two ambulances and a first responder unit for EMS support.

Units were under the direction of Second Assistant Chief Chuck Brady

The blaze is under investigation by the Huntington Town Fire Marshal and Suffolk Police Arson Squad, accoriding to PIO Steve Silverman.
