Retired Suffolk County Judge Barbara Kahn Dies

Former Suffolk County Family Court Barbara Kahn, who served on the bench from 1996 to 2018, died Thursday. She was 71.

Currently, the cause of death has not been made public.

Kahn, of Lloyd Harbor, retired from the bench after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70.

Having graduated from Queens College in 1968, Kahn went to Boston University School of Law and graduated in 1972.

She served as an associate court attorney for the Queens County Supreme Court from 1972 to 1995, and was then elected to the Suffolk County District Court in 1996 where she served until 2004.

From 2005 to 2015, Kahn served on the Suffolk County Court, and then the Suffolk County Family Court.
