'Smart' Felix, Garfield And Stanley: Huntington Adoptable Pets Of The Week
The 3-and-a-half-month-old brothers grew up outside, but their "true personalities are starting to shine."

HUNTINGTON, NY — Felix, Garfield and Stanley, 3-and-a-half-month-old brothers, are the Grateful Paw Cat Shelter's Huntington Pets of the Week.
"In a quiet neighborhood backyard, three tiny kittens had been hiding out, keeping their distance from people and surviving as best they could," said Debbi Larkin, president of the shelter. "They were trap-shy, smart enough to avoid every attempt at rescue, but too young to thrive on their own. It took patience, persistence, and a lot of heart from our local rescue hero, John, to finally bring them to safety."
The three young brothers had already learned how to be cautious, Larkin said.

"Growing up outside without the steady guidance of a mama cat had made them a little introverted, but now that they’re safe indoors, their true personalities are starting to shine," she said.
Felix, a handsome all-black boy, is the "life of the party," Larkin said. He hasn’t met a toy he doesn’t like, and his purr motor is always running, whether he’s chasing a ball, batting a feather, or crunching away at dinner.

Garfield, also all black, is sleek, shiny, and "endlessly lovable." He’s the cuddlebug of the group, happiest when he’s rolling over for belly rubs or sprinting across the room with the speed of a tiny track star.
Stanley, their tuxedo-clad brother, is the "curious adventurer," Larkin said.
"He’s always on the lookout for the next new thing, leading his brothers to the highest points of the foster home with his fearless climbing skills. Just wait until he sees the cat condos he can climb when he arrives at the shelter."
All three boys have tested negative for FELV and FIV, tested negative for parasites, and had their ears, eyes and heart checked. They have received all of their vaccines and they are all litter box trained. They are set to be neutered and microchipped on Sept. 2 and will be available for adoption on Sept. 4.
"It will be like the first day back to school for them!" Larkin said.

If you are interested in meeting Felix, Garfield and Stanley, you may call the shelter at 631-757-4517, email cats@laphuntington.org, visit the Facebook page or visit at the Grateful Paw Cat Shelter.
The rescue is at 3 Verleye Ave., East Northport, and visiting hours are Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
The shelter is also open from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday nights only for those who cannot make it during the daytime hours.
"Thanks to John’s persistence and the care of their foster family, Felix, Garfield, and Stanley are learning that people mean comfort, safety, and love," Larkin said. "They’ll be ready to find their forever homes after Labor Day, and they can’t wait to meet the families who will cherish them for life."
