Event: Tai Chi with Joseph Panico
Location: Main Auditorium
Dates: Saturdays, Sept. 6, 13, 20, 27; Oct. 11, 25 (Six sessions $30)
Time: 10 - 11 a.m.
Description: Tai Chi is a Chinese form of exercise that helps reduce tension, improve balance and increase vitality. It incorporates breathing with slow and fluid movements, emphasizing correct posture and body mechanics. Registration required with $30 fee and open to all.

Event: All-Levels Iyengar Yoga with Ann McDermott
Location: Main Auditorium
Dates: Wednesdays, Sept. 10, 17; Oct. 8, 15, 22, 29 (Six sessions $30)
Time: 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
Description: This all levels class is experiential and progressive based on the art, science and philosophy of B.K.S. Iyengar. Designed to educate, enable and inspire life-long learning for all. Description: Yoga therapist Danielle leads this series to promote bone and muscle strength, develop awareness to be more mindful of your movements, help connect to and strengthen your center of gravity. This course will focus on hips, wrists, legs, and spine, which are the bones prone to breakage, as well as reduce stress. Please bring a yoga mat. Registration required with $30 fee and open to all.

Event: The American Tradition of Investigative Journalism: Before and After Watergate

Description: Long before Woodward and Bernstein were household names, there were intrepid journalists (many were women) who brought about reform due to their tireless investigating and reporting in the late 1800s. The early reformers were trailblazers for those who followed. Fast forward to Watergate and The Washington Post whose fearless reporting forced a sitting U.S. president to resign in disgrace. Years later The Boston Globe wins a Pulitzer Prize for their outstanding reporting on the pedophile priest cover up. This form of long form journalism is here to stay and it's an American tradition like no other. Registration required and open to all.

Event: New York State Citizen Preparedness Corps Training
Location: Main Auditorium
Date: Monday, Sept. 29
Time: 7 p.m.
Description: The Citizen Preparedness Corps gives residents the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster or emergency, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. Led by the New York National Guard working with experts from the Division's Office of Emergency Management and Office of Fire Prevention and Control, this course provides an introduction to responding to a natural or human-caused disaster. Participants are advised on how to properly develop family emergency plans and stock up on emergency supplies. Registration required and open to all.

Description: “Hell Screen,” by Ryūnosuke Akutagawa (1892-1927). Yoshihide, a master painter, receives a commission to paint a scene of Hell on a screen. He holes up in his studio for several months and when he emerges, there remains one unfinished scene: that of a young woman burning to death in a flaming carriage. When he asks to view a demonstration of this event, his patron obliges. Yoshihide is horrified to see the subject is his own daughter. Registration required and open to all.

Description: Innovative activities offer hope for dementia patients, allowing them to rediscover joy and connection.
