Two Charged in Dix Hills Gas Station Robbery
One suspect is from Huntington Station, the other from Dix Hills, police say.

Two men – one from Huntington Station, the other, Dix Hills – were arrested in connection with a robbery at a Dix Hills gas station early Thursday morning, authorities said.
Suffolk County Police say two men entered the Sunoco at 1888 East Jericho Turnpike, pushed a store clerk and stole the cash register at approximately 3 a.m.

A short time later, Second Precinct Patrol Officer Peter Devlin observed the two men in a 2014 Nissan Altima. As Devlin was following the vehicle, one of the men threw the cash register out of the window at Majestic Drive and Regency Lane in Dix Hills, police said.

Shane McAdams, 20, of Huntington Station, was arrested at the scene. Nicholas Schmiedel, 21, of Dix Hills, who fled a traffic stop on foot, was arrested a short time later by Second Precinct Patrol Sgt. William Miller, police said.
McAdams and Schmiedel are charged with second-degree robbery. They will be held overnight at the Second Precinct and are scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday, police said.
