Rain, Thunderstorms, To Return To Long Island This Weekend

LONG ISLAND, NY — Long Island can expect a rainy weekend, after consistent days of sunny weather.

On Friday, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected after 3 p.m., but will remain hot with a high near 80 degrees.

Rain will most likely begin Friday night, with a 60 percent chance of precipitation and will follow through into Saturday.

Sunday will also expect a 50 percent chance of rain.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Areas of fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Southwest wind 6 to 10 mph.

Friday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. South wind around 7 mph becoming east after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. Northeast wind 9 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51.

Sunday: A 50 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 66.
