The following is a bio for Island Trees Library Trustee candidate, Robert Redka.
The Island Trees Public Library budget vote and Trustee election will take place on Tuesday, April 23 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Library’s Dolores M. Morehouse Community Room.
"I am a retired teacher with the New York City Board of Education for 31 years. I hold a B.S degree from New York University and two Master’s degrees – one from Hunter College in Education and one from the City College of New York in Administration.
I served in the U.S. Navy, but attached to the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where I served from March 1956 to September 1957 when I was honorably discharged.
My teaching experience was in the Bronx and various sections of Harlem, all at the junior high school level. I am married with two sons and have lived in Levittown since 1973. My wife and I have been involved in both scouting and Little League programs.
I am satisfied with the programs, materials and services at the library but would like to see costs lowered."
