LEVITTOWN, NY — The Levittown Chamber of Commerce has tapped Nerissa Palermo as the grand prize winner of $500 for its 60-date challenge recently, according to a news release.

As part of the challenge, the chamber offered the opportunity to earn up to $2,000 in cash prizes for shopping and doing business with chamber member businesses, and Palermo met the challenge racking up enough points from Carpets and Us to snag the grand prize of $500. Nine other prizes were awarded ranging from $50-$500.

Chamber president Michael Levy said that the goal of the initiative was to help local businesses recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Our purpose as a chamber is to help our chamber businesses as well as our community. By shopping locally and supporting our businesses we are keeping tax dollars in Nassau County. Now more than ever it is important to support small businesses.”

Levy credited Nancy Skolnik, the owner of Carpets and Us and her staff for doing a “wonderful job” promoting the challenge. “They had many winners from their business. Our hope with the promotion is for winners of the Levittown Chamber of Commerce 60 Day Challenge to use their winnings to shop at chamber businesses,” Levy stated.
