The students at Stokes Elementary School in the Island Trees School District took a stand against bullying on Wednesday, Oct. 9.Â
Both students and staff at the school wore orange as a sign of unity and each student wore a statement of affirmation on a "link" to build a chain of strength.Â
Students formed a unity chain 497 links long, traveling the length of the entire school building.
"I can stand up for myself, I am brave, I can be a good friend," the students said.Â
