Bulldog Is Still in Running

The Lindy mascot has made to Heat Five of MSG Varsity's Mascot Dash, and is currently in first place at presstime.

And there's still time to make the Bulldog - ' long-time mascot - top dog.

Competition and Voting
It made it to Heat Five of the six-week online contest, and it's one of 18 mascots currently competing to win a weekly prize and the right to move to the Championship Round the week of June 4.

Parents, students, staff and residents could log onto the MSG Varsity website here to vote. Simply go to Long Island and then look for High School.

The link is also available on the district's website.

The Bulldog is currently in first place with 2,033 votes at presstime, and voting for Heat Five ends at 12 p.m. on June 4.

(Update: The Bulldog is behind East Rockaway in second place with 6,022 votes as of Sunday afternoon, June 3.)

What's at Stake
If Lindenhurst's mascot wins this week's heat, then the district is eligible to receive a $500 gift certificate to Morley Athletic Supply, according to the contest's website.

The mascot will then be eligible to compete in week six, the Championship Round, beginning June 4, according to the contest's website.

The winning mascot from that final round would win a new mascot costume for the district (value not to exceed an approximate retail value of $6,000).

Second place wins the district a $3,000 credit at Anaconda Sports (approximate retail value of $3,000).

Third place wins the district one eight-foot scoring table (approximate retail value of $1,700).

The winner of that final round will be announced by approximately June 11 here, according to the contest's website.
