Copiague High School Named ‘School of Excellence’ By National PTA

The Copiague school was one of 10 on Long Island to receive the honor for having exceptional school-PTA partnerships.

COPIAGUE, NY — Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School in Copiague has been named a 2023-2025 School of Excellence by the National PTA, a national organization dedicated to promoting family engagement in schools.

The program awards the title to schools that display an exceptional partnership between the PTA and the school.

“As demonstrated by these PTAs and schools, strong family-school partnerships are essential to make a difference for our students and schools and help every child reach their full potential," Nathan R. Monell, National PTA executive director said in a statement.

Out of 319 schools across the United States that received the award, 19 New York schools made the cut this year. Out of those, 10 are on Long Island, including three in Suffolk County and seven in Nassau.

In Suffolk County, Walter G. O’Connell, Sayville's Lincoln Avenue Elementary School and Boyle Road Elementary in Port Jefferson Station all received the honor.

Walter G. O’Connell was also named a 2022-2024 School of Excellence by the National PTA.
