Crash at Wellwood & Straight Path Sends Woman to Hospital

A Monday night car collision also injures another man, police say.

A car crash in North Lindenhurst on Monday night sent one woman to the hospital and injured another man.

Suffolk Police said at 9:12 p.m. a 1998 Chevrolet sedan was traveling Northbound on North Wellwood Avenue and crossing the intersection when the vehicle collided with a 2003 Toyota traveling northbound on .

The driver of the Toyota, Ingrid Castello, 38, of Wyandanch, was taken to in West Islip with complaints of chest pains, according to police.

The driver of the Chevy, Dennis Scherback, 21, of West Babylon, suffered minor lacerations to his head, but he didn't go to the hospital, police said.

Castello had five passengers in her vehicle; none were taken to the hospital, police said, adding Scherback was driving alone in his vehicle.

Police officials had no other details about the August 27 crash.
