LINDENHURST, NY — Lindenhurst High School violinist Julia Chu has been selected to perform in the annual NYSSMA All-State Festival this December.

"This selection recognizes Julia’s hard work and talent with her chosen musical instrument," district officials said in a statement.

As part of this honor, Julia will perform in the All-State String Orchestra in the Violin 1 section, a position awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional proficiency in their musical field.

Each year, only 600 students from across the state are chosen for this prestigious festival. Julia earned her spot by achieving a perfect score of 100 on her NYSSMA All-State audition last spring.

Julia’s passion for the violin extends beyond school. She plays in the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, and attended the Chamber Music Camp at Adelphi University over the summer, where she served as concertmaster. Additionally, Julia is President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society at Lindenhurst High School.
